Piątek

She completed Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Diploma in the studio run by prof. Rajmund Ziemski in 1997, additional specialization in tapestry in the studio of prof. Stanisław Andrzejewski. Piątek took part in individual exhibitions: 2007 – Nowolipki Gallery, Warsaw; 2007 – Oficyna Malarska Gallery, Warsaw; Salon Sztuki 49 Gallery, Warsaw; 1998 – Abakus Gallery, Warsaw; 1997 – Aneks Gallery, Warsaw and collective exhibitions: 2008 – DAP Gallery, Warsaw; 2007 – Oficyna Malarska Gallery, Warsaw; 1997 – Studio Gallery, Warsaw; 1995 – Elektor Gallery, Warsaw.

Since 2006 the artist has been working in art studios of Warsaw Praga district where she forms artistic circles along with her friends. Within the studio’s projects and actions Piątek took part in: among others – Praga Project (2006), Night of Museums (2007, 2008).

In her output she willingly uses symbols limited to short signs which form a kind of ambiguous language. Intensive colours in her works and slogan inspired by the world of advertising form a code through which the artist interacts with the audience. Conventionality and brevity result from communication requirements of modern era, and the picture is a form of a game meant to evoke associations which provoke simultaneous (to the one depicted on canvas) narration. One story vs. a tale by each viewer.
